The publisher of Outdoors New Mexico is Karl F. Moffatt, a longtime, award winning newsman and an avid outdoorsman who has traveled the state extensively since his arrival here in 1981.
Moffatt, a U.S. Army veteran, graduated from New Mexico State University’s School of Journalism in 1990 and has reported for the Albuquerque Journal’s Las Cruces and Santa Fe bureaus, the Las Cruces Sun News, the Alamogordo News, the Ruidoso News, the Rio Grande Sun in Espanola and the Optic in Las Vegas NM .
For years Moffatt’s outdoor stories and photos were a regular feature in the Santa Fe New Mexican and his work is frequently featured in the official magazine of the state Department of Game and Fish, New Mexico Wildlife. He has contributed work to the NM Department of Tourism’s New Mexico Magazine and offers freelance articles to newspapers around the state.

Moffatt began his career in journalism as a newspaper boy in his hometown of Malden, Massachusetts. He now lives in White Rock NM with his wife, Wren, a former journalist, and their madcap cat, Bam Bam.
